Odd is inspired by the contradictions of bizarre plant forms that reveal hidden reularities and beauty withn seemingly chaotic nature. The unique curves and protrusions of the bizarre plants suggest potential movement. I imagines the moment when this stationary plant is in motion and recreates it as media art.
I imagined the moments when these stationary plants are in motion and recreate it here as media art. Through this, the audience can experience the vitality of the plant and the beautiful forces of nature behind it.
The creative challenge was to find, create, and animate the fluid movement hidden in the regular shapes of these plants. The technical challenge was to select a few real-life plants and model them without scanning to make them easier to animate and simulate. This was done procedurally using Houdini.
